Poodle Butts

"Hey, do poodles have to have a lot of fur all over their butts? Is that normal?"

"Nope."

"Oh.  Nevermind."

Brooke's New Song

While I was rocking Isaac and Brooke was laying in bed:

"Momma, I have a new song to sing to Isaac."

"Okay, let's hear it."

"Monkey, monkey, eat your food.  Monkey, monkey, please don't peel off anyone's face."

(At this point she kept singing about Monkey, Monkey, but I have no idea what she said because I was laughing so hard.)

Too Much!

Riley asked from the kitchen, "How much [food] do you have left, Brooke."

"Too much," Brooke replied.

Dirty

"Brooke, are your hands dirty?" I asked this afternoon.

"Nope," she replied.  "I just washed them in dirt."

Cold and Punching

While rocking Isaac in the nursery, I overheard this conversation taking place in the bathroom:

Brooke:  "I'm COLD, Daddy!"

Jesse:  "It's good to be cold sometimes.  And sometimes, it's good to get punched in the face.  Sometimes it's good to eat a knuckle sandwich."

(It's at this point that I will remind you that we have NEVER punched our children in the face.  It is a long-standing joke, and one that our children understand as humorous since it will never happen.)

California Girl

My Cali girl just informed us ...

"California is a place where we lived in Texas."

Fistful of Sunshine

For weeks we've been joking around with the kids, telling them we're gonna give 'em a fistful of sunshine.  You know, instead of a knuckle sandwich.  It's at this point that I MUST emphasize we do not punch our kids in the face.  Ever.  It's just a household joke.  Now that that's clear, I'll continue.

So they'll be whining or what-have-you, and Jesse or I will say, "Watch out, or you'll get a fistful of sunshine in yo' face."  To which they normally laugh and forget whatever they're whining about.

At supper the other day, this was a conversation with our 3-yr old, Brooke ...

Writing

"I'm gonna write a word, Mama," Brooke said.

"Yeah?  What letter does your word start with?"

"It starts with pink."

Rainbow Butt

"Dad, YOU can't mess up my world.  You can slide down my rainbow and get rainbow on your butt."

Siblings

Isaac is constantly beating up on his Brookie.  Just a little while ago, he walked up to her and smacked her with the Harry Potter & The Sorcerer's Stone DVD.  To which Brooke replied calmly, "I'm not a bowling pin, Isaac."

No Way, Hoozay

As Jesse was sitting down to eat some buffalo wings, Brooke says, "Oh no you won't!  No way, Hoozay! (Jose)  That's a LOT of chicken."

Cheerleader

Scene -- Brooke sitting on the potty

B:  "I'm done, Momma."
J:  "Good girl.  Let's wipe."
B:  "No Momma.  You gotta cheer for me."
J:  Sighs.  "Yay, Brooke."
B:  "Not like that, Momma.  Say, 'YAY BROOKE!'"
J:  "YAY BROOKE!"
B:  "Okay, now cheer some more.  Say, "Go Brookie, go Brookie!"
J:  Sighs again.  "Go, Brookie.  Go, Brookie!"
B:  Now sighing herself.  "Not like that, Momma.  Say:  GO BROOKIE, GO BROOKIE, GO!"
J:  "GO BROOKIE, GO BROOKIE, GO!"
B:  "Good job, Momma!  Now ... faster."

At this point I gave up and just wiped her butt.

Nasty

"Don't touch my milk, Momma.  It makes me nasty."

Something about grapes ...

This little gem is from Brooke, age 3:

"Grapes don't poop their pants."

New Hat

When asked why she was wearing (clean) panties on her head, Brooke replied, "Cause I can see well, Mama."
